Lennox Marshaltown

Project Description

On July 19, 2018, an EF-3 tornado struck Marshalltown, Iowa, causing extensive damage to the Lennox manufacturing facility. CES was retained by Belfor to immediately provide emergency structural engineering services, facilitating rapid recovery and restoration of operations. Within days, CES collaborated closely with Lennox, Belfor and a large variety of trades to assess the damage and develop a comprehensive plan for rebuilding. CES assisted with providing information to the insurance teams for a successful resolution to the claims.  CES designed a new 106,000-square-foot production space to replace the destroyed structures, integrating it seamlessly with the existing facility.  Additionally, Lennox then retained CES to the design a new 40,000-square-foot office building, featuring modern amenities and a museum space that honors Lennox’s rich history. Thanks to the coordinated efforts, Lennox resumed partial operations just one week after the tornado, with full restoration completed in 2023. This project stands as a testament to resilience and the power of swift, strategic engineering solutions in the face of disaster.
