Sales Force Tower Chicago
Project Description
Right next to Wolf Point East, another project was awarded to CES called Wolf Point West which then became known as Sales Force Tower. This was to be an identical type of structure, except used for as an office building and although the number of floors were almost the same as the sister building, the floor to floor heights were increased on Sales Force Tower and the footprint was much larger. This massive façade truly creates a focus point on the Chicago River. The façade comprises approximately 568,000 square feet of custom unitized curtain wall, featuring varying depth vertical stainless steel covers. Additionally, a structural glass wall was installed at the podium level, enhancing the building’s transparency and connection to the surrounding environment. The curtain wall system was designed to accommodate the building’s sculptural form, characterized by a series of gently tapering setbacks that culminate in a distinctive crown. This design not only contributes to the tower’s aesthetic appeal but also aligns with its sustainability goals, as the building achieved LEED Gold certification. Our scope included the engineering design and creation of shop drawings for the building’s exterior curtain wall, ensuring the façade met both aesthetic and performance criteria. CES was retained to perform Design Assist and structural engineering for all of the exterior glazing systems.
